Ameliasburgh Real Estate

AmeliasburAmeliasburgh Ontariogh is situated right on County Road 19, a quiet and curvy road, very pleasant for a motorcycle trip in the summer months, and for such a small place, there are a surprising number of things to see, especially if one is interested in local history.

The old church on the Main Street, originally built in 1868 as a Wesleyan Methodist Church was converted into the Ameliasburgh Historical Museum in 1968. It is now part of a full pioneer village that includes a log cabin, an operational blacksmith shop, a sap shanty as well as beekeeping and dairy operations. The best part though is Amelia's Tea Room, which is only open during special events, so not everybody is lucky enough to catch it when it's open.

The old Mercantile shop on County Road 19 has been in continuous operation since 1895, and offers a variety of things to buy, both handy every day items and curiosity items. This shop is well worth the stop.

Prince Edward County is an island in Lake Ontario with a strong nautical history, so it's not surprising that this little Hamlet is the birth place of Brian Price, an Olympic rower who won a gold medal in Beijing in 2008 and a silver in the London Olympics of 2012.

If you ever feel the need to come somewhere quiet with interesting things to do and see, take a road trip to Ameliasburgh. It's only a two hour drive from Toronto, and it's one of the reasons why Prince Edward County attracts more and more visitors every year.Ameliasburgh Ontario
